How do I avoid being picked as a juror again?

Just tell the truth. If you are an intelligent liberal you will NEVER, EVER be seated on a jury, even in NY (super liberal state). I’ve been called 13 times and all it’s cost me is a few hours maybe 3 times. Lawyers DO NOT want smart, well-educated people on their juries. That’s saved me for years.

You "go to school there", so you’re about 18 I’m guessing? Yet have been on a jury previously?" Wow, just wow. And in which benighted hell hole state do you live? And you’re willing to GIVE UP THE RIGHT TO VOTE to get out of jury duty? Just exactly in which backwater, flyover state you live? Because I will never, ever go to that backwater. Wow!

Some states and some counties pick a jury pool from the voter registration, the drivers licenses and the state income tax list. Now in my state if you have served in the last three years you do not have to serve again for a short period of time if you request to be excused. However if you have served either state or county and you get called to serve in Federal court they do not care if you served yesterday much less last week.

When you move to are required to change your address at the MVD. Now you are eligible to be called for jury service in the new county. If you do not change your address you are subject to be called for jury duty in the original county.

Our jury panels are from three to six months. During that time you may serve on an actual case every day or if the case is going to last three days every three days. That is not what I was talking about above. A panel of six months is one service. Three years later you may be called again to serve on a panel for another three to six months.

You normally get picked from the electoral roll – so register out of area. From what I have read on different jurisdictions, you don’t have to travel more than 70 km maximum. If you were to get a medical certificate such as PTSD, bipolar, anxiety, depression, ADHD you could ask to be excused – simply put forward your ability to concentrate is affected, as is your decision making process.

My view is from Australia, but no matter where you are play the game. The justice system is a game, and getting out of jury duty is a national sport. The whole system is broken. Judges get lifetime appointments and are not investigated or accountable for stupid decisions. Sentences are out of touch with community standards. Evidence is “withheld” from juries for being too prejudicial, even though it is relevant. There is no search for the truth, and the rich get better results because they can afford better lawyers. Overall, the whole court system is a game. This clip pretty well sums up how the system has failed everyone except the lawyers
